KAASPEED’s lightweight, battery-powered scooter is a new way to travel around the golf course.

Historically golf is a sport favoured by an older demographic, but recent data from the PGA’s Golf for All research tells us that situation is changing. Now, over half of on-course golfers are under 44.

With these statistics it stands to reason then that savvy golf clubs will be thinking about how they can appeal to more of this demographic. Here we consider this new age of golf and the type of facilities and services required to engage them on the golf course.

The UK’s golfing population is getting younger

The report reveals that the largest single group of golfers in the UK and Ireland falls within the 35-44 age bracket, comprising 24 percent of the total golfing population. 18-24 year olds make up 15 percent of the golfing population and 25-34 year olds comprise 14 percent. So, how can golf clubs adapt to attract and retain this more youthful audience?

Relaxing the rules

To encourage both men and women in this younger demographic to spend their time and money at golf clubs, many are modernising their approach. Some have steered away from being membership only; many are fostering an anyone welcome approach, encouraging the whole family to come along and doing away with strict dress codes.

Establishing a full set of facilities

Offering a full spectrum of facilities means people can enjoy a club regardless of whether they choose to golf. Partners and families can come and enjoy a day out while the golfer in the family gets their game in with clubs seeing the advantage of offering more than just the beautiful game itself with health clubs, spa services, hotels, fine dining, woodland walks, even gin distilleries!

Speed up the pace of play

One of the key findings of PGA’s Golf for All research was that memberships typically correlate with people who have time on their hands – it wasn’t uncommon for a round of golf on an 18-hole course, with a drink in the clubhouse after to take the whole day.

For younger audiences who are far more likely to have time restraints and constraints such as work or a young family, the solution doesn’t have to be the introduction of a nine-hole course. The solution is to speed up play. And the solution to speeding up play is with KAASPEED golf scooters.

Electric independence

Developed for solo riders, the KAASPEED electric golf scooter gives players independence on the course, allowing them to go at their own pace and with a top speed of 26mph they can whizz around the course. If a partner’s ball goes off course and needs retrieving, there’s no need to accompany them any more, with KAASPEED players need only focus on their own ball.

Designed for golfers

Despite its small, but sturdy, and lightweight frame, KAASPEED is set up for golfers and all that entails. It’s designed with comfort in mind, is easy to steer and easy to turn. There’s a specially designed golf bag rack fitted to the rear of the vehicle and an optional cool box means players can take their own refreshments around the course, so there’s no need to join the queues at the halfway clubhouse.

All-day transport

The car-grade lithium cell battery has the power and range to carry passengers for up to 38 miles on a single charge so they can travel around the course all day if they need to without running out of power. This means customers can rent one in the morning and return it in the evening with no problems. But it’s not just customers who will feel the benefit, staff with site-wide errands to run will too.

Boosting the fleet

As golf courses become more inclusive, multi-purpose environments, these scooters will form an integral part of the site’s fleet. These scooters run alongside buggies providing an alternative rather than replacement method of transport. There’s no need to take out a two or four-seater buggy when it’s just one person, for a less-able family member on a walk, or to get from A to B anymore and at a fifth of the price of the average buggy, these scooters are easy on the budget and great value for money.

 Moving golf forward in style

This golf scooter is engineered to be simple to ride, efficient to run, capable of managing all kinds of terrain with its powerful battery and reliable motor and designed for optimum rider control and comfort with a sleek appearance to suit any golf course.

This eco-friendly golf scooter makes a solid contribution to site transportation to build towards a dynamic, sustainable future by engaging a younger, more diverse audience.
