One of the best approaches to becoming a more profitable caterer or catering venue is more efficient logistics.

Let’s set the scene… in the management of a leisure resort which has a cluster of restaurants in the middle of the site, but the service point (warehouse/storage facility or delivery gate) is on the outskirts a couple of miles away, utility vehicles are needed to transport the deliveries and ingredients from A to B.

Then there’s a multi-functional golf course or football stadium with a hospitality offering. The jobs of the housekeeping team across a busy, big site (these can be ten of acres in size) will be far more efficient with a transport solution for them and their supplies.

Providing staff a versatile, spacious, task driven, configurable transport vehicle will serve dividends when it comes to efficient logistics, says Reesink e-Vehicles.

Ensuring staff have the right tools or equipment needed to do their jobs well is essential to get the job done, not only properly but effectively. You wouldn’t think of expecting a turfcare professional to do an efficient and decent job mowing greens with a FlyMo. Equally, you can’t expect a housekeeping team to be effective across an 80 acre site without a decent mode of transport. You also can’t expect them to be organised and efficient getting from the maintenance facilities to the hotel without a vehicle that allows for logical, easy, organised storage options. This is where the STAR EV AK48-2 model steps in.

Versatile and task-driven

The AK48-2 model can be configured according to the venue it’s at and the role it plays. Whether you opt for the standard or long version, with or without doors, these vehicles can be customised to carry cargo according to the specific needs of the customer with a range of accessories. There’s a utility box as standard, a refrigerated box can be added, and it can be customised with two tool boxes, a stake bed, enclosed box, insulated box and beverage cart.

Engineered for efficiency

The eco-friendly all-electric AK48-2 model carries batteries that are designed to be maintenance-free, long-lasting and easy-to-charge. They use onboard charging, can be plugged into a standard 13v socket with a three-pin plug, and deliver up to 60 miles on a single charge of between six and eight hours. This impressive range on minimal charging time means your staff will not experience range anxiety while using this machine – there’s plenty of power for the day’s task on most sites, plus it keeps costs low, and requires no extra equipment such as bulky chargers or expensive charging point installations.

Eliminating extra food miles

These utility vehicles can help to reduce food miles in the hospitality industry by transporting food while releasing no emissions. Food miles are calculated by measuring the emissions used to transport one tonne of food over a distance of one kilometre. Electric utility vehicles reduce overall food miles by cutting carbon emissions for the final part of the food’s journey, when it has arrived on site and is being transported to its final destination.

The client’s choice

The new STAR vehicle has several flexible features, allowing clients to choose a preference when ordering. Speed range is from 6-25mph. Both the standard and the long configurations can cope with a hilly site, with a top climbing ability of 15 percent when fully loaded. The turning radius is 4.5 metres for the standard version of the vehicle, and six metres for the long version. This makes both vehicles easily manoeuvrable when loading up inside a warehouse. Top loading for both models is 450kg, and both can accommodate two passengers.

The smartest maintenance vehicles for hospitality

With all-terrain tyres, hydraulic drum brakes and a hand-operated parking brake, the AK48-2 can be driven with confidence across a wide variety of surfaces. It boasts brake lights, headlights, turn signals, and a glass windscreen with wipers and a fully functioning washer system. An inbuilt charge indicator enables drivers to assess how much battery is remaining at any point during use.

Whether used for facility maintenance or primarily as hospitality vehicles, this new addition to the STAR range operates at a high level of efficiency whilst prioritising your user’s safety and comfort. The fact that the vehicle is emissions-free boosts sustainability credentials, and clever engineering with durable materials means lower maintenance costs.

Streamlining services at hotels and resorts

A fleet of AK48-2 vehicles will transform the way that hotels and resorts transport people and cargo around large and busy sites. Whether using these electric utility vehicles for waste collection, housekeeping, transporting or maintaining facilities around a site, they can be trusted to deliver. Quick, quiet and smooth to drive, electric vehicles offer a cleaner, fresher approach than pretty much any other form of transport in this sector.

A generous and flexible cargo area allows teams to transport large quantities of cargo as required. The AK48-2 can be used to transport laundry, consumables, luggage, packages or equipment. Its onboard charging capabilities mean that it is easy for staff to charge the vehicle wherever there’s a standard plug socket, rather than having to drive back to a charging point elsewhere on the site. It can also provide an effective form of transport for security personnel, who may need to move around the site unobtrusively without disturbing guests.

With the options of the insulated box or beverage cart, these electric utility vehicles can be used to minimise manual labour when transporting and serving food and drink. Keeping food at the required temperature for serving is important both for controlling energy costs and for maintaining high standards of food hygiene, and the AK48-2 achieves this with efficiency and precision.
