Onsite electric buggy demos to promote sustainability in the education sector
To help achieve a circular economy and tackle climate change within the education and secure sectors, Reesink e-Vehicles is offering onsite demonstrations of STAR EV’s hard surface utility electric buggies for institutions that want to take their sustainability drive one step further.
The education sector is already playing a pivotal role in the UK Government’s mass roll-out of electric vehicles, with many UK universities diversifying their fleets, electrifying cars shared by staff and PhD students, and purchasing emission-free vans for site security teams. However, uptake still isn’t where it could be.
As such, Reesink e-Vehicles is offering hands-on demos of STAR EV’s AK electric buggy range, which could not only help further decarbonize the sector but also facilitate the government’s wider Net Zero strategy.
By offering a try-before-you-buy experience, the UK’s leading provider of EV utility solutions aims to support the education sector while also providing cutting-edge utility vehicles for a range of all-terrain and hard surface applications.
Institutions will have hands-on demonstrations of STAR EV’s AK48-2 Standard (STD), as well as the AK48-2 Long-D model, which adds a further 780mm to the wheelbase, offering a bed size of 2010mm x 1190mm and a payload of up to 450kg – ideal for those with larger grounds and green spaces.
For those transporting people instead of cargo, the AK48-2 STD’s cab can be increased to seat up to four passengers. The long wheelbase can increase to six passengers.

The versatility of the range continues since both models are available with or without doors, modifying their ease of access, as well as a heater, beacon, cage body, van body, and stake sides.
“The AK range from STAR EV is a great fit for the education sector,” says Dave French, sales manager at Reesink e-Vehicles. “Each individual vehicle can be tailored to meet the institution’s requirements.
“Standard and long wheelbase options offer increased flexibility,” he adds. “Their many configurations mean that they’re an excellent choice for all kinds of teams – from grounds, maintenance, and security crews to those working across campus in catering and housekeeping.”
Depending on the electric buggy’s intended use – last-mile delivery, postal errands, security patrols, rubbish collection, or for maintenance like watering and gritting – the load bed can be set to various configurations on both models, which means the AK range is well-suited to a wide range of tasks.
As standard, each 48v vehicle comes with a glass screen and wiper to ensure maximum visibility at all times, as well as all-round hydraulic drum brakes. Furthermore, powered by maintenance-free, sealed AGM batteries, there’s no need to top up on the go with a messy jerry can: drivers are able to cruise for up to 60 miles before recharging via a 13A socket.
